Outdoor and Environmental Studies

OES is concerned with the ways humans interact with and relate to outdoor environments. The alpine environment covers places that have minimum influence from humans, as well as locations that have been subject to different levels of human intervention. Outdoor School Bogong, enables students to make critically informed comment on questions of environmental sustainability and to understand the importance of environmental health, particularly in alpine environments. Students will develop experiential knowledge of the alpine environment from perspectives of environmental history and ecology and also examine the complex interplay between alpine environments and humans.

Vocational Education Training (VET) Sport and Recreation

SIS20213 Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation: Outdoor School Bogong can assist students undertaking this qualification, by providing them with the knowledge and skills to be competent in performing core skills in an outdoor recreation environment.  Talk to us about tailoring a program for students which can include compulsory and/or elective units.

Outdoor School is not an Registered Training Organisation but does have some teachers qualified in the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110).

Students may be interested in undertaking some structured workplace learning at Outdoor School Bogong to provide them with the opportunity to integrate practical on-the-job experience and to help fulfil some of the recommended 80 hours of Structured Workplace Learning in their program.

Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) Personal Development Skills

Outdoor School Bogong can assist students to develop knowledge, skills and attributes that lead towards:

Schools have the option of participating in either a winter or summer VCE program at Outdoor School Bogong. Outdoor School Bogong Program Manager will discuss the logistics with you to organise a suitable program and Outdoor School Bogong teachers will discuss with you specific curriculum outcomes before your program commences.
